Sprinklers play a pivotal role in modern irrigation, serving diverse applications such as watering agricultural fields, nurturing gardens, and even recreational purposes. By distributing water uniformly, they ensure optimal plant growth and resource conservation. Here is what you should know before you buy a sprinkler.
Types of Sprinklers
Irrigation sprinklers: Irrigation sprinklers are piping terminals finding applications in various activities such as watering farms or fields, growing vegetation or for recreation, gardening and/or control of airborne dust.
Rain-Guns: Similar to impact sprinklers but operating at very high pressures ranging from 40 to 130 psi (275 to 900 kPa) and flow rates between 50 to 1200 US gallons per minute (3 to 76 L/s). Beyond irrigation, rain-guns are utilized in industrial settings for tasks like dust suppression and logging.

Spray Heads: These sprinklers emit water in a fixed pattern and are typically designed to operate at pressures below 30 psi (200 kPa). Operating at higher pressures can lead to misting, resulting in inefficient water use.
High-Pressure Rotating Sprinklers: Equipped with mechanisms like ball drives, gear drives, or impact mechanisms, these sprinklers rotate in full or partial circles. They are suitable for applications requiring higher water pressure.
Most irrigation sprinklers function using hydraulic technology and are organized into zones.

Installation and Operation
While many sprinklers are installed above ground, some systems are designed to be buried below the surface, integrating seamlessly with the landscape. Most irrigation sprinklers function using hydraulic technology and are organized into zones. These zones can be collectively controlled by actuating solenoid-controlled valves, allowing for efficient and targeted irrigation.
